James HennesseyI’ve been into reptiles since I was 11 years old when I got my first turtle, pilule which I still have. I’m the curator and owner of Reptile Village Zoo in Ireland. My work includes the management of the zoos various reptile species from alligators to rattlesnakes to geckos. My speciality is monitor lizards. I also coordinate and run various conservation projects that the zoo is involved with throughout the world. I’ve been lucky enough to have had to opportunity to work with and study many reptile species in the wild all over the world including Venezuela, link Cuba, North Africa, Indonesia, West Africa and of course India. Outside of reptiles, my other interests include kayaking, rock climbing and motor sports. At present I’m in the middle of building a Lotus 7 race car replica. (which is taking a little longer than anticipated!). If you come to Ireland, please do visit the Reptile Village zoo – there’s really nothing much else do on the island…
