Barkha Subba is a Ph D scholar in Conservation Science at ATREE (Ashoka Trust for Conservation in Ecology and Environment). She is working on the distribution, diversity, habitat ecology and conservation of amphibians at Kanchanjunga National Park in Sikkim. Kanchanjunga National Park falls within the administrative boundary of Sikkim. The total area of the National Park is 1784 km2 and the altitude ranges from 1829m- 8585m. There has been limited study on the batrachofauna of these high altitude regions of the Eastern Himalayas and this study has the potential of contributing vital data towards the understanding of the ecology of high altitude amphibians leading to construction of appropriate conservation strategies.
